How To Create Notification Templates In The AlertFind Web UI

In this video, we will explain how you can create a new template from scratch in the user interface.         

Welcome to another AlertFind Nugget training session. This nugget shows you how to create a new notification template from scratch using the web user interface.

To create a new template, go to the Manage Library section on the left navigation bar and click on Manage Library. 

A new window will appear that lists all the notification templates that exist in your environment. To create a new one, click on the new button found at the top left. The new window that appears is the template editor. You will notice that it is familiar because it has exactly the same fields that you have in the Composed Advanced editor.

The first thing I need to change is the name of the template. You can also provide a description. In this example, let’s call it “Fire Drill.” 

Next, we need to choose a color scheme and an icon for the template. You can choose any of the colors or icons provided here. You cannot upload your own icons or colors. Next click on the checkbox called Enable Editing. This would allow the sender to be able to modify the To field, subject line, and content upon executing the template.

Once you have updated the top section of the template editor, you can now make modifications to the To field, subject line, content, responses or any advanced options. In this example, I will fill in the To field with my name, the subject with “Fire Drill in Effect” and the content: “Please note there is a fire drill in building one, please evacuate the building.” For the responses, I will keep it as a confirmation that the users have received the notification.

At the bottom left corner, we have a button called More Notifications. A notification template can support one or more notifications. This is important when you want to send a notification to the general population versus a different message that goes to leadership or the IT team. This section can be used to nest notifications within a particular template so that you can send them all at once, or individually.

After you have completed all the necessary modifications, click Save at the bottom of the screen. When you go to the alert console,  you’ll see the template that you just created.
